University to host 2005 research symposium

Building on the success of a similar event in 2003, Binghamton University will be hosting a major statewide research symposium, Destination Discovery ’05, on March 23 and 24, 2005. The event will explore the changing face of sponsored research by means of both broad-based and targeted sessions designed to help faculty succeed in securing funding, collaborators and resources for their work. Sandra D. Michael, professor of biological sciences and the department's director of graduate studies, says yes. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and recently finished a four-year term on their Program of Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion (DoSER), a committee established in 1995 that seeks to increase the level of scientific understanding in religious communities and promote multidisciplinary study of the ethical and religious implications of developments in science and technology.
