More than 75 faculty, graduate students and industry representatives participated in Innovation Summit, a half-day event cosponsored by NYSTAR, Binghamton University’s Division of Research, and the Greater Binghamton Coalition on May 18 at the Regency Hotel in Binghamton. The event was designed to maximize the opportunities for Binghamton University faculty to discuss their research interests and entrepreneurial ideas with key regional business and industry representatives.
The meeting included targeted sessions in small-scale systems collaborations, innovative computing technologies, biomedical and biotech initiatives, and advanced sensor technologies. Marcene Sonneborn, the NYSTAR-sponsored Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) specialist for the Central New York Technology Development Organization, worked with participants to give them a better understanding of business and funding opportunities. The event also received support from the United University Professions.
